We are so dissatisfied and disappointed in our Government and how they informed the public. Mixed messages are the new norm. In our opinion NPHET is an utter disaster now. If their wages were paid from work they created, their messages would be clear and concise.
At the time of writing, it’s ok to fly into Dublin from overseas and travel anywhere around Ireland.
But as a Dublin resident we are not allowed to attend a socially-distanced theatre show. Despite our theatre being regularly cleaned. Fresh air intake fans installed. We spent considerable time and money reopening. We are not allowed outside our capital.
All of the media about different supports for theatres is not true. Like most situations in Ireland, these supports are for the few, not the many. Small business is left adrift. Even though we are the heartbeat of Ireland. We represent over 50% of employment wages.
Please bear with us over the next few days while we yet again re-organise ourselves for The New Theatre – outside.
We hope to perform our new play JACKIE, outside, from September 28th at a park.
The OPW will update us on Monday, September, 21st 2020.
Thank you so much to our patrons, Friends of The New Theatre and funders.
