This month we open our first show of 2024 – A Modest Proposal by writer David Quinn!
David was one of the founding members and artistic director of the former Punchbag Theatre Company, Galway. During his time, he directed, created and produced most of the company’s productions including The Life of Stuff, No Comet Seen and the play they were most noted for: Eclipsed. David is also one of the founding partners and directors of the creative advertising agency Bloom with whom he has worked with a wide range of clients including The Labour Party, Citroen and Brady Family Ham. He is a graduate of the University of Galway. This is his professional debut as a playwright.
A Modest Proposal (with a little thanks to Jonathan Swift) is a satirical comedy like no other. Johnny is excited. He’s cracked a big problem and now he wants to tell us about it. He and his high-powered agency team have come up with a solution to one of the most persistent and difficult social issues in one of the world’s richest economies– that of ongoing child poverty in Ireland. Where others have failed, Johnny has applied blue sky thinking, shifted the mindset and has come up with a solution where everyone wins. Armed with a Powerpoint deck he takes to the stage to present his modest if unorthodox proposal.
Running from February 20th, tickets are on sale now!
