We are looking forward to April here at The New Theatre, with multiple world premieres of new work stemming from our New Writing Weeks!
First up, we welcome Jodie Doyle and the team from Jaxbanded Theatre Company to present HATE F%#K, directed by Ois O’Donoghue. Running from April 9th, in Hate F&#k, sex is everywhere. Between horny housemates, an affair, and a one night stand, Abigail can’t seem to get away from it. With a bad job, cramped apartment, and a dodgy audition coming up, Abigail is not where she wants to be in life. Everything is completely flipped on its head when she gets sexually assaulted by a friend of hers. Hate F&#k explores what it means to be an ‘imperfect victim’ who doesn’t live up to the standards placed on victims of assault.
We are delighted to be presenting this new piece from a brilliant emerging theatre company.
Later in the month, we welcome back Colette Cullen, with her new play Tender Mercies, performed by Sorcha Furlong, from April 23rd for one week only!
Inspired by a news headline in a local paper Sorcha Furlong (Fair City), in a tour-de-force performance, captivatingly portrays Mary Fortune from womb to tomb through the highs and lows of a life that finally spiralled out of control. Blackly comic, rich and poignant this stunning new play brings vividly to life a whole cast of characters from Mary Fortune’s past.
Dare to laugh at despair and gasp at this brave, bleak, beautiful yet very humorous show. You’ll be thinking of Mary Fortune long after the lights go down.
Tickets for both shows are on sale now from our ticketing page.
We would also like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to our audiences from the beginning of 2024. Your continued support across our theatre and events has been much appreciated and we are looking forward to welcoming you back to the theatre with our exciting new work in the coming months!
