This Earth Day, April 22nd, join us for a screening of The Oil Machine.
How can we break our addiction to oil? The Climate Ambassadors are hosting a special screening of The Oil Machine at 6pm on April 22nd, in The New Theatre, Dublin 2. Join us on Earth Day for an inspiring, must-watch film on our energy future.
The Oil Machine explores our economic, historical and emotional entanglement with fossil fuels by looking at the conflicting imperatives around the North Sea oil and gas. This invisible machine at the core of our economy and society now faces an uncertain future as activists and investors demand change. The film brings together a wide range of voices from oil company executives, economists, young activists, oil workers, pension fund managers, and considers how this machine can be tamed, dismantled or repurposed.

This event is organised by the Climate Ambassador programme. Our goal is to empower a climate-literate community through creative communications and engaging actions, building resilience with people. We empower individuals to become Climate Ambassadors, organizing communications and actions that inform, inspire, and support climate action within their communities and networks. We specialize in engaging young people, teachers, and community leaders through the Climate Action Team.

We are delighted to invite three fantastic panelists to kick off our discussion…
Ciaran Hughes: ethical investment and finance
Director at Ethico, financial planner, advisor and TedX speaker. Ethico is dedicated to help reframe the way in which we view investment, putting sustainability, inclusion, diversity, and fair play at its core.
As the film highlights, the role of financial investment and pension savings plays a pivotal role in the transition away from oil and gas. Ciarán will speak to this as he merges the worlds of traditional finance and environmental sustainability.
Dylan Murphy: Not Here, Not Anywhere (NHNA)
Member of the anti-fossil fuel group, Dylan has played a leading role in the campaign stop the granting of planning permission for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminals in Ireland. He will bring the conversation of climate activism into the Irish context.
Not Here, Not Anywhere are a nationwide, grassroots, volunteer group campaigning to end fossil fuel exploration and the development of new fossil fuel infrastructure in Ireland. They advocate for a just transition to renewable energy systems both nationally and around the world.
Phoebe Duval: Advocacy, An Taisce
