The Golden Era of Ceili Music and Dance 1955-1970

Between 1999 and 2004, in conjunction with the Irish Traditional Music Archive, Brian Lawler recorded interviews with 70 people including céilí band founders and member, promoters, dancers and radio personnel. He obtained a total of 42 hours of recorded material and has put together an insightful talk on the project which consists of a review of the work and includes short extracts from some of the interviews along with samples of the music of the period.

IMRO Music Masterclass with Frankie Gavin

Frankie Gavin is regarded as the Prince of fiddle players and of recent times, made the Guinnes Book of World Records as the Fastest Fiddle player in the World. Frankie is the founder of De Dannan and has collaborated with such luminaries as Stephane Grappelli, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, and The Rolling Stones.
IMRO Song Writing Masterclass with Johnny Duhan
2pm – 4pm
Known for his fierce independence and integrity as an artist, Johnny has condensed a body of work spanning 40 years into a quartet of epic albums. Johnny’s songs are sung all over the world in a variety of languages, thanks to the focus put on them by artists such as Christy Moore, The Dubliners and Mary Black.
