New Writing Week – A Murder of Clouds

Join us for a rehearsed reading of A Murder of Clouds by Patrick O’Sullivan as part of The New Theatre’s New Writing Week.

It’s the run-up to Christmas. Jay, a lone parent, and his friend Martin have extended their afternoon’s socialising into the evening, in Jay’s flat, when the arrival of Jay’s sister Dee leads to tensions coming to a head.

The evening takes an unpredictable turn with the arrival of Dee’s Romanian friend Alex. Jay’s interest is aroused by this ‘prophet from the east’. A bizarre sequence of games, songs and verbal sparring heightens the atmosphere.

Alex provokes and calms like a sorceress. Dee juggles hope and humiliation. Martin, tortured by his demons, threatens catastrophe. Jay crushed by the weight of the evening, seeks redemption through his precious Sarah.
