The Belly Button Girl

Presented by SQUAD Productions

A tragic accident on a Dingle beach kick-starts a fast-paced love affair between our eccentric protagonist and the mesmerizing Belly Button Girl.

A tale of passion and heartbreak wrapped within a comedy, we follow our misguided hero through the hectic maze of young adulthood, where he attempts to navigate the earth shattering highs and crushing lows of falling in and out love.

Along the way, we meet “Sambuca Lady”, “Miguel from Longford”, “Cousin Sharon”, “Cleopatra”, “Don The Taxi Driver”, and “The Massive Lad”. And one year on, we reflect whether fulfillment that you found in someone else, can be maintained by yourself?

“And I wondered, what would it be like if we bought a house together?

And what would it be like if we had a child together?

And what it would be like if she died first?”

Reviews

  • “Moran’s writing is observant and witty. He has created bizarre, brash characters within a play that is a funny, heart wrenching throw back to the confusion of being vulnerable and falling blissfully in love”

    -- Niamh Mongey, Headstuff
